Resolution Week #3: “What’s in my Goodreads Challenge this upcoming year

In 2012 I participated in Goodreads’ reading challenge. I set my goal for 25 books in 2012 and here I am on the last day of the year working through the last book on my list. The only requirement I gave of myself was that I actually complete this goal, and it’s looking like it’s going to happen (it will happen.)

Well, in the last few months of 2012 I’ve come to the realization that I’m going to end up self-publishing my books (and in turn, accepting this fate with a smile rather than a grudge), so what better way to pay it forward and to celebrate the ability to go it alone than by giving myself the additional goal of reading self-published books? Because I want to get a fair share of self-published books in this year, but don’t want to limit myself purely to self-published books, I’m dedicating 10 of my 30-book goal to self-pubbed titles.

Additionally, I’m going to finally read a few classics (Wuthering Heights and Pride & Prejudice) and re-read some longtime favorites (To Kill a Mockingbird and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.)

First up on the self-pubbed list is BEAUTIFUL DEMONS by Sarra Cannon (which has been recc’d a hundred times over by fellow author and possible future self-pubber Adrianne James.) Beautiful Demons is the first in a now-complete series of six YA Supernatural books. Check out Sarra’s amazing self-pub story here.

Got any rec’s for awesome indie books?
