Headaches… let’s start there… due to formatting issues with my novel, I now have a headache. And it’s a doozy.
Here are the things I’ve learned about myself today:
- I have the same level of mastery of Microsoft Word 2010 as that of the average circus chimp.
- I’m gullible… which brings us to our next bullet point…
- not all e-publishing style guides are equal. Just because the guide claims to be “exactly what you need” to submit via a certain avenue, that doesn’t mean it is what you should be using. Smashwords, for example, has their own publishing guide. If you’re going to publish via Smashwords, save yourself the headache, and use their guide.
- I’m not a super hero. It doesn’t matter how many times I strap a bed sheet to the back of my t-shirt collar and run around the house “saving” my cats from certain danger, I am still not a super hero. I know, that little realization hurt me, too. I write about super heroes (kind of), but I’m still just human. And all that really means is that no matter how hard I work, sometimes, I can’t make things happen faster than they are.
^ Have you checked out Inky Girl’s Will Write for Chocolate yet? If not, what are you waiting for?!? ^
Now, the other day I promised an update on the whole agent thing. You’ll get that post (along with some super exciting news and a big reveal) tomorrow.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go write a paper about the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans now. *slow clapping and sarcastic smiles abound*
